KODIAK – the most modern skydiving aircraft
The Kodiak was developed from 2001 with the help of aid organizations for their special needs. The first delivery took place in 2008. As the latest generation of STOL aircraft, it can be used on runways of less than 1,000 feet. One of the first spectacular missions of two Kodiak 100s was in January 2010 after the earthquake in Haiti. The Kodiak is available in a passenger version for pilot and 9 passengers. The seats can be removed quickly and easily to obtain a spacious cargo version. There are also versions with floats, which so far have mainly been used in the north of the USA and Canada. For the parachutists from Gruyère, however, the availability of a skydive version was of crucial importance. This has everything a parachutist wants from a drop-off aircraft: large doors, step, handle bars inside and outside and - for team training and competitions - enough space for up to 15 jumpers.
